Hi everyone... Great Race Report and Photos Donaldaz. Had mucho fun out there on the course.. Thanks to Albert and Dennis clanging those cowbells... I also started thinking about you guys once I hit mile 13 or soo... Tony said he couldn't get to you all (get this...he said it was TOO FAR of a walk and it was TOO HOT!) Can you believe that!?! You two standing out there in the blazing sun ringing that cowbell and yelling thru the bull horn for God knows how many hours and my loving husband couldn't walk a measly 2 miles. Sorry , but you will have to see your "niece" next time! I found Tony at mile 24 under a bridge in the shade , drinking my gatorade!!
This was the first race that I have ever walked. It was kinda cool because I could enjoy the scenery and all of the other walkers around me. Those team in training people had great support!! My left ankle had been bothering me and at mile 12 it decided to develop temporary tetanus and lock up on me I had been holding a 15 min pace until then, but it took 20 minutes after popping a tylenol for my ankle to return to semi-normal. I guess I shouldn't have decided to run down the freeway but I just couldn't help it. I remembered running it 2 years ago and just had to give it a shot. It felt great but I paid for it at mile 12!!
Anyways.. Finished at 7:12 according to my Garmin! It was a much different race than my 5:21 pre-baby at the 2004 RnR... I missed running with my yellow hat crew... but I am just thankful I finished!!
Thanks to the yellow hatters out there. I found Daniel and Kenneth at the beginning of the race. It was good to get hugs from all of you... especially from ALBERT AND DENNIS!! Thanks again for waiting for me to get to you all. I think I reached mile 21 at 5:45. I am sure it was a long day for you . Once I saw the "WALL" I knew you guys were right around the corner!
